Street Eats Food Truck Festival is Back at Talking Stick this weekend ...

Street Eats FestivalHave you ever had an irresistible craving for a lobster grilled cheese, specifically paired with Alaskan reindeer sausage, but you just know that there is no way you?ll be able to find them within a reasonable distance from one another? Or, have you ever dreamt of eating a delicious treat or entire meal that has been prepared for you and subsequently sold from that same truck? Soon you will have the opportunity to quell those desires by attending this year?s Street Eats Food Truck Festival!

Just because these meals are prepared within the tight confines of a food truck does not mean that the food passed through the window is not delicious enough to bring a smile to the pickiest foodie?s face. The 2012 Street Eats event was such a tremendous hit that the event has been extended for the entire weekend of January 12 and 13, 2013 at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Every square inch of the enormous, state of the art field will be needed to park the 50+ food trucks that are set to open up their portable kitchens for the weekend.

Based upon the food truck lineup you can count on plenty of fry bread, hot dogs, and BBQ at this Super Bowl of Food Truck events. Looking for something a little?different? You?ll have the opportunity to try anything that catches your fancy from 11am to 6pm each day. This means it?s time to get adventurous and try that reindeer sausage, Creole gumbo, or maybe some Dutch-Indonesian grilled meats (huh?). With 50+ trucks on site, you won?t be bored with your selections, I can promise you that.

It wouldn?t be a food festival without some drinks, now would it? Four popular bars will be onsite to quench the thirsts of food adventurists, hosted by Whiskey River Saloon, Upper Crust Pizza & Wine Bar, Majerle?s Sports Grill, and Firehouse. There will also be a mobile bar traveling through the crowds to help the thirsty, but far too stuffed to travel, enjoy a drink as well.

It?s hard to argue that the bulk of the credit for the success of the food truck phenomena has to go to The Food Network and the Travel Channel for their promotion of these real estate conscious eateries. In continued support, you can learn a thing or two about the culinary arts in a live demonstration from Iron Chef Zakarian from ?Iron Chef America? and ?Chopped?, on Saturday from noon to 1pm. The man with the iron stomach, Matt Richman from ?Man vs. Food? will also be giving a live cooking demonstration on Sunday from noon to 1pm. You may have caught a live demonstration of his ability to consume an irregular amount of sliders at Phoenix?s best bagel shop and deli, Chompie?s N.Y. Style Delicatessen on an episode of ?Man vs. Food?.

If quality time is what you?re looking for then I recommend you look into the LTB Concepts VIP Tent for some private time with Zakarian, Richman, and other well-reputed local chefs such as Aaron May (I have a giant foodie crush on him, there will be more details about May?s culinary magic to come!) who are gloriously responsible for Phoenix gems such as Praying Monk, Renegade Tap & Kitchen, and Over Easy, just to name a few. If you love food and love talking about food, pony up for this VIP tent and get your monies worth.

For a little bit extra, you can enjoy the day in The Un-Wine-D Lounge.? In this area you?ll be treated to eight, food and wine pairings. Sample cheese and crackers along with a glass of Chandon Ros?, and then move on to a caprese skewer with a light sauvignon blanc or chardonnay?just to start. I don?t know how it?s actually possible to enjoy all eight of these pairings and all of the yummy bites in the general admission food truck area? This may be why the event is now a weekend extravaganza?just a thought.

Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, as there will be a limited amount sold. You can secure your spot by purchasing your tickets online. It is important to note that your ticket is good for the specified day on the ticket, either Saturday or Sunday. To attend both days, you?ll need to purchase Saturday and Sunday tickets separately.

General admission is just $10, with kids 12 and under for free. Access to the Un-Wine-d Lounge is $35, which includes the price of general admission. Revel in foodie heaven in the LTB Concepts VIP Tent for $60, which includes $20 in food tickets, appetizers, and six (SIX!) alcoholic drinks. Parking is free no matter what ticket you choose. I?d recommend you bring extra cash with you so you?re not forced to pay crazy foreign ATM fees for any of the goodies inside.

Food Trucks are set to arrive from as far away as Iowa for the Street Eats Festival just around our corner. If you?ve never enjoyed the food truck experience then this is an event you must not miss.? If you?ve been around the block with all of this food truck business, then you know what you?ll be missing out on this Street Eats Food Truck Festival weekend.
